In this episode, we sit down with David Coffey and discuss Bakersfield's Architectural history and how Bakersfield made his dream of owning a Neutra home come true.
David David Coffey is the owner of Richard Neutra’s Davis House (1937) in Bakersfield, CA. He is also the curator/caretaker of the FLW Ablin House (1959-61) in Bakersfield. He has curated and produced multiple historical architecture events in Bakersfield, including “Masters of Modernism: Neutra and Wright in Bakersfield” (2009), and the ongoing “Bakersfield Built” program produced in conjunction with Sian Winship, SAH/SCC President, The Bakersfield Museum of Art, CSUB Library Special Collections Department and The Kern County Museum. He is a former Bakersfield Museum of Art board member and currently serves on the Exhibitions Committee. David grew up in Cincinnati and graduated from The University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music with a BA in electronic media. He has lived in Cincinnati, Washington D.C., New York, Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile, and Long Beach. He is the founder of Crosley Resource Group, a contract office furniture dealership.
